Electric vehicles come with a traction motor which solely is responsible for the tractive effort to be developed in the system. As a matter of fact, EVs are the only zero emission vehicles possible which would help in curbing the pollution in an efficient way. This chapter deals with the fabrication of a real 4 wheeler EV based on the fabricated 2.2 kW SRM. All the components including chassis is designed specifically to meet the needs of a light 4 wheeler EV which can be a future urban transport in Indian scenario. An operational Block diagram of an EV system is shown in Fig. 1.
